Q&A

What did you make?
All art, modeling, texturing, coding, and music was created by me. I did use a font and some sound effects that are licensed under Creative Commons.

Did I use AI?
Full disclosure, although nothing in my game is too complicated, I did ask AI for assistance
when it came to concepts I didn't really understand yet since I'm pretty new to programming.
However, the vast majority of the code was my own. It was mostly used when trying to
think of solutions to issues that I just couldn't seem to solve on my own.
No AI was used in the creation of any art assets, music, or sound.

Any future plans for this project?
Sure! It was a lot of fun to make. I learned a lot in this project that I didn't
know how to do before this, like using navmeshes, shaders, and materials. This is my first
ever 3D project, and I'm a massive fan of RPGs, so it was really hard to not try to give
you stats that increase over time like in Morrowind.
Ideally, you'd also get more than one gun, although I did always find it fun in games
like Resident Evil 4 where your handgun was basically 'ol' reliable' throughout the entire game
More levels would be fun too, maybe enterable buildings, although modeling and
texturing just the few that you see here was painful enough under the jam deadlines.

Any future plans in general?
This was such a fun experience! I learned so much and am looking forward to making more
stuff, especially learning to build and rig my own low-poly models in Blockbench, which
is what I used to make the models and paint them. It's more limiting than Blender, but
if you have an easier way to paint pixels on a model in Blender, I'd be happy to hear it.
That said, I have a few game ideas in mind and can honestly say I'm much better equippped
to make them than I was just nine days ago!

Good lord, what is that bass tone? It's filthy!
I used my Sire P/J 5-String bass with a setting I made in Neural DSP's Darkglass
Suite, with the J-Pickup on full, the P-pickups at about 50 percent, and used a pick to get the aggression.
Before it goes in the master, it's routed through EZMix which is using the Bob Rock Impossible Bass
preset. You can say a lot about St.Anger, but the guy knows drum and bass mixing.
If you want the preset, I'd be happy to send it to you. I was originally planning
on writing something a little more Mick Gordon-esque, but by the time I started writing
music, it was already 4am on the day of the deadline, so I ended up writing some more
sludgy stuff.

This was definitely my most successful jam so far, so please let me know what you think! Your comments really mean so much to me.

Creative take on putting pixel art on 3D instead! Controls and movement have been smooth, and upgrading stats feels satisfying. This is hella impressive for a solo dev! Also loved the late 1900s movie vibes, gave me huge nostalgia.

Loved the effects, controls were smooth as well, zombies were dope. Good job!

this is fantastic it's like a beautiful blend of doom and COD zombies with its own stylistic flair on top of all of it. nice work!

Amazing work!

I loved it, although at one point I broke the camera and the mouse was leaving the screen and I could not play more haha. except for that very well done!

Try our rhythm/rpg game

;)

I did! It was great!

Great game and great music, had a lot of fun!

Thank you so much! I've never released music before, just been playing for myself all these years, so getting a compliment on it means a lot to me.

Nice one! Reminded me of Doom. I got clipped against the wall near the start and had to reset, but it was fine after that. Couldn't remember the keys so I died not knowing how to reload lol, then the next time because I struggled to interact with objects. The screens could be clearer so you can see in < 1sec what you'll get and what it'll cost you so you don't have to stand there for ages trying to figure it out. Overall a solid entry and worth pursuing to tidy up those few things I think!

I was so proud of getting the machines to glow and display 2d text in a 3d space that I kinda forgot you were being chased the entire time haha. But thank you for your input! You're like the fifth person, not including myself, that has gotten stuck there. It definitely happened to me, and I forgot to fix it! Thank you for playing!

Nice game! I liked the game art and the gameplay is also fun. I played the 5 minute survival mode and it was a bit hard for me :D

Thank you so much for trying it out! Yes, it turns out my perception of the difficulty might be a little skewed since I played it from day one haha. I was nervous to decrease the number of enemies so that the level always felt full, but since they track you immediately it does tend to immediately create a swarm. In retrospect, having them patrol until you're within a certain radius and THEN move towards you would have helped a lot. I tried to do a few things here and there to make it easier: hits from the back do less damage, sometimes hits won't deal damage below a certain health threshold, and you can heal above your max hp as much as you can afford it, but I think addressing the enemies is the way to go.

In the future, I'll try to get more playtesters and learn how to implement a proper difficulty curve.

Thanks again for your feedback!

nice

This is hilarious. I got stuck there too, and I meant to fix it but forgot! You can actually double jump, but I don't think your initial jump height is enough to clear the hood of the car.

I'm playing this on a livestream! I'm recording so I may make a small video on the game later! Very fun so far!
Gameplay begins at 01:47:07

Thank you so much for playing! It was so fun to watch! I see you went for a lot of headshots. I actually had an issue implementing critical hits, so they actually don't do anything, but interestingly there is bullet penetration for 2 enemies behind the one you hit with some damage falloff, so it's more advantageous to go for center of mass shots. I really enjoyed making this project, so after the jam is over I'd definitely like to implement more weapons!

There's nothing wrong with that! I just aim for the head no matter what game I'm playing, but I had a lot of fun playing this as a reprieve from scary games! You have a solid foundation for a super cool game here!

Well I survived! With minus 1 minute to spare haha!
Really great work! Making a cod zombies clone in 10 days is impressive!
I sucked at first as I didn't realise I could leave that first area haha. There's a whole big world out there, with power-ups and all sorts!
Great game, I had a lot of fun. Especially enjoyed the intro titles too! Robocop is a great film.

Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun being in the jam with you! Hope to see you soon!
